IBM Spark Analytics Access

Hi,
I wanted to understand which tool should we be using? Is it the IBM Spark as a service? Should I register for this? This only gives me 30 days of access. May I get at least 4 months of acccess so that it covers time after the submission? Please advice on what platform we should use, since the hackathon seems to be focused around IBM spark.

    Hi Sri,

Thanks for your question. Apache Spark is the required tool (http://spark.apache.org/). You may certainly use IBM's Analytics for Apache Spark in addition if you wish, but since it is not a required tool we are currently not extending Bluemix trials past the normal 30 days. If this changes we will alert all participants.

Thanks for the response Serena. Hosting a spark cluster in the cloud is fairly costly on our own hence it would be ideal if IBM gave us access to their cloud services. Can you please give this feedback to the IBM representatives as its a critical factor that prevents us from utilizing Spark and IBM services to its fullest in this hackathon. Alternatively, you can give me the organizer contacts at IBM and I can discuss this with them. Thanks again for setting this up !

Sri, I've asked about Bluemix since it can host an Apache Spark service that is required for this competition. I've used up my 30 day trial from previous Devpost competitions.

I bit the bullet an put my down my credit card for Bluemix to use in this competition. I'll have to see how that goes.
